Google Local Services Ads · UK

Get found by local customers with expert Local Service Ads management.

Local Service Ads put your business above the paid ads, above the map and above every website — and you only pay when a real customer contacts you. As a local services ads specialist I handle the setup, the Google Verified checks and the ongoing optimisation, so you get the calls instead of the business that simply filled the form in first. No contract.

01 · Why Local Services Ads

The top of Google stopped being about websites.

When someone needs a plumber, a cleaner or a solicitor today, the first thing on their screen is a short list of local businesses with a verification tick and a star rating. Most people pick from that list. If you're not in it, you're competing for the attention that's left over.

That list is Google Local Services Ads — LSAs for short. Getting into it, and staying in it, is the whole point of an LSA consultation, and it is a different job to ordinary Google Ads or SEO. There is no keyword bidding to hide behind and no landing page to tweak: Google picks the three businesses it trusts most for that search, in that postcode, at that moment. As a Local Services Ads consultant I work on the handful of things that decision is made on — verification, reviews, service areas, job types, opening hours and how fast you answer.

Top 3

Above everything

Local Services Ads appear at the very top of search and on Maps — above normal Google Ads and above the organic results.

Per lead

Not per click

You're charged when someone actually calls or sends a booking request, not every time a stranger clicks and wanders off.

The verification tick

Passing Google's checks earns the Google Verified badge — the blue tick that replaced Google Guaranteed and Google Screened in October 2025 — what the checks involve.

£20–50

Typical UK lead

Most trades pay somewhere in this range per lead, billed by Google. See how LSA costs actually work.

Three names. One gets the call.

This is the block that sits above the paid ads, above the map and above every website in the country. Local service ads management is the work of getting you into it and keeping you there.

02 · What LSA management gets you

What local service ads management actually gets you: more of the right phone calls.

Local Services Ads are the only place on Google where a small firm can outrank a national chain on the same screen. Here's what changes once your account is set up and managed by a local services ads specialist rather than left on the settings Google gave you. If you'd rather see the numbers first, jump to my own rankings or straight to the packages.

You own the top of the screen

On a phone, the LSA block fills the first screen. Whoever sits there gets the call — usually before anyone scrolls to a website at all.

You pay for calls, not curiosity

No more paying for clicks from people three counties away. Your budget goes on real enquiries from the areas and jobs you actually want.

The tick does the selling

A Google Verified badge next to your name answers the question every stranger has: are these people real? Verified businesses get picked over unverified ones.

Your reviews finally earn their keep

Your star rating sits inside the ad, doing the persuading before you've said a word. I'll set up a review routine that keeps it climbing.

You see what rivals are doing

Part of every consultation is a look at whoever is holding the top slots near you — their ratings, their hours, their gaps. Then we go after the gaps.

No contract, no retainer trap

A fixed fee, agreed upfront, and an account that belongs to you. If I tell you LSAs are wrong for your trade, that advice is free.

03 · Proof of existing rankings

I rank my own companies first. Here's where they sit today.

Plenty of people call themselves a local service ads expert. Ask them which of their own businesses is ranking. These two are mine — a commercial cleaning group and a cleaning brand covering the West Midlands — and they compete for some of the hardest local search terms in the UK.

Nine years in search — SEO Wolves seal

Nine years of doing this for other people, and several more doing it for companies where the phone bill, the payroll and the wasted ad spend were all mine.

550+

Five-star Google reviews

Earned by my own cleaning brand through the review routine I set up for clients — the single biggest lever inside a Local Services Ad.

49 → 72

Pages, restructured

One of my sites rebuilt so every service and every town had a page that could be found on its own, instead of one page trying to rank for everything.

8

Industries prospected

Schools, care homes, housing providers, estate agents, retail, warehousing, offices and hotels — all worked for my own companies before any of it was sold on.

40+

Staff on the road

The enquiries these methods produce turn into real jobs and real payroll, which is the only test of a marketing idea that actually counts.

The brand I test everything on: site architecture, the review engine that produced 550+ five-star reviews, and the email sequences that book the site visits. What works here is what I recommend; what doesn’t, I keep to myself.

Why an operator sees this differently

I have sat on the other side of this screen: quoting the job, sending the cleaner, chasing the invoice. So I judge a Local Services Ad by what arrives in the diary, not by a dashboard.

That is also why I will tell you when the answer is no. If your trade is not eligible, or your area is too thin, or nobody can answer the phone before six, the honest advice is to fix that first — and it costs you nothing to hear it.

04 · LSA management packages

05 · Straight answers

Local service ads expert: the questions I get asked every week.

What does a Local Services Ads consultation actually involve?

We start with a free LSA check: your trade, your area, your current account if you have one, and a look at who's holding the top three slots near you. From there I either set the account up and get you verified, or fix the one that's already running. It's a working session and a plan, not a slide deck — and you keep everything, including the account.

What does a local services ads specialist do that I can't do myself?

You can absolutely set an LSA account up yourself — plenty do, and then wonder why the leads are wrong or the ranking won't move. What a specialist brings is knowing which settings cause which problem: why your service areas are draining your budget, why verification keeps bouncing back, which job types are sending you jobs you'd never quote for, and what to do the week Google changes the rules again. You're buying the shortcut past the expensive learning, not a secret.

Do you offer ongoing LSA management, or only setup?

Both, and you choose. Basic is setup and one optimisation round if you'd rather run it yourself afterwards. Growth and Expert Level are ongoing local service ads management — monthly or weekly optimisation, lead disputes, review routine and reporting — with no minimum term, so you can stop the management side whenever you like and keep the account either way.

Can you guarantee I'll be number one?

No, and neither can anyone else — the order changes with every search, based on who's nearest, who's open, who answers and who's reviewed. What I can do is make sure you're the business with nothing left to fix, which is how you end up in the top three far more often than not.

What is Google Verified, and what happened to Google Guaranteed?

In October 2025 Google folded Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and its other badges into one blue "Google Verified" tick, shown alongside the checks your business has passed. The old money-back guarantee programme was retired at the same time — Google’s own announcement of the change is worth a read. The tick still does the same job: it tells a stranger you've been checked before they ring you.

How long does it take to get verified?

Usually three to four weeks in the UK, longer if something is submitted wrongly and has to go round again. That's most of what my setup work is: getting insurance documents, licences and identity checks accepted the first time instead of the third.

What will it cost me?

Two separate things. Google bills you per lead — for most UK trades that’s commonly quoted at around £20 to £50, and you set the weekly budget, so your ad spend stays under your control. My own work is a fixed fee quoted after the free LSA check, once I know the size of the job, with no ongoing contract. There’s a fuller breakdown in my guide to what Local Services Ads cost in the UK.

What about rubbish leads — wrong area, wrong job?

You can dispute a bad lead, and Google reviews charged leads for up to 30 days. But it no longer automatically refunds leads outside your area or outside your job types — it expects you to have set those up properly. So the fix is at the front end, in your service areas and job selections, not in an argument afterwards.

Do I need a Google Business Profile as well?

Yes — your LSA account links to it, and your reviews and hours come from it. If yours is a mess, out of date, or doesn't exist, that's part of the job.

Which businesses can advertise this way?

Most local home and trade services, plus a growing list of professional ones. A handful of categories aren't eligible, and some — legal work, for instance — have been rolled out more cautiously in the UK. Checking your exact category is the first thing I do, before you spend anything.
